The Shifting Winds

Well beta patch 15699 is out and it decided to have an impact on the Windwalker rotation I talked about recently. There were a good number of changes for us this build other than just Blackout Kick. There's a new spell that is similar, yet different, to the Druid's Teleport: Moonglade called Zen Pilgrimage. Other major changes include the shielding effect from Statue of the Black Ox, the Ox Stance itself, and Chi Burst actually doing a meaningful amount of damage.
So straight from Wowheadnews build 15699 changes:

  • Glyph of Surging Mist: Your Surging Mist no longer requires a target, and instead heals the lowest health target within 40 yards.

As you can see a lot of the changes are just minor things like spell types and wording (as in the case of Celerity or Tiger Stance. Like I said up top, you can see Chi Burst changed from around 1k damage to about 10k base. It's showing right now in Brewmaster spec as 15k damage and 24k healing done. Expel Harm is showing the opposite, saying it will only heal for about 1k but it does do the correct amount.

Another one of the changes is to the Brewmaster's Ox Stance. I'm honestly not sure if it's just a wording change or that we used to be able to stagger magic attacks and it's now a nerf to only melee attacks (I honestly haven't tested as much on my week off as I intended to, what with Diablo 3 and all. SINister#1801 btw.)

The big question on my mind is Blackout Kick. What is going on with that? Now obviously it still has the effect for Brewmasters, but for Windwalkers? While it's described as doing more damage than Tiger Palm what it was actually hitting for for me on the beta (at the dummy) was only 1-2k more than Tiger Palm! Blackout Kick has retained its 2 Chi cost for now though. Making it completely and utterly useless to Windwalkers. There's no reason whatsoever to not just Tiger Palm instead. You can see the top and bottom lines of the image above that Blackout Kick hit for 13,702, and Tiger Palm hit for 12,432. Hopefully we can get some clarification on it soon. Perhaps a blue post on what the current idea for the Windwalker rotation is or what the overall big picture intent is.

I'm going to go over the glyphs here soon as they currently stand however last I checked they still can't be obtained.
